Prayer to Saint Norbert of Xanten
O Saint Norbert,
once a seeker of worldly honor,
now a faithful servant at the altar,
you were struck by grace
and arose from the dust in holy silence.
You tamed the flesh in charity
and guided reform with the brightness of truth
rather than the rod of severity.
Teach us to tread the narrow way without fear,
to love the most blessed Sacrament with adoring hearts,
and to welcome the mercy of Christ
when shame clings too tightly to us.
Intercede for all who carry regret
and labor beneath the burden of self-judgment.
Pray for us,
that we may become humble vessels of peace
and, in Christ, find the freedom you found.

Obtain protection
for me and my child,
strength where I am weak,
and peace in the hour of birth.
Saint Norbert,
helper of mothers,

O Saint Norbert, angel of peace
and protector of children,
you who brought reconciliation
and watched over the young
entrusted to your care,
stand by our children now.
As they grow
and the world presses in,
as they face temptation
and the noise of many voices,

Prayer to Saint Norbert for Defending the Sacred
O Saint Norbert,
defender of the Blessed Sacrament,
you stood firm when truth was contested
and did not yield what is holy to corruption.
When voices called good evil and evil good,
when darkness was offered as light,
you held fast to what you had received.
Pray for us in our own time.
When we are told to soften the edges of truth,
to accommodate what cannot be accommodated,
to call sacred things common,
pray that we may be given clarity and calm
When the beautiful is named ugly
and the ugly is praised as beautiful,
when right is called wrong
and wrong is called right,
help us see truly
—not with anger or despair,
but with patience and trust in God.
Teach us to guard what has been given:
the truth of the faith,
the holiness of the sacraments,
the dignity of what God has made sacred.
When we are tempted to trade these for comfort,
for acceptance,
for the approval of the age,
pray that we remain faithful.
Not with pride or harshness,
but with your steadfastness
—calm in conviction,
patient in trial,
and trusting that God preserves
what belongs to Him.
Saint Norbert,
who would not profane the Precious Blood
even at risk to yourself,
pray for us
—that we may guard the sacred,
stand firm when tested,
and remain faithful
to what we have received.

O Saint Norbert,
defender of the Blessed Sacrament,
in your time false prophets arose,
voices multiplied and contradicted,
and even those who claimed authority
led souls astray.
You faced Tanchelm’s heresy,
the confusion of rival popes,
and clergy who taught for comfort
rather than truth.
Yet you did not despair.
You stood firm in what you had received,
sought faithful shepherds,
and guarded your flock with patience and clarity.
Pray for us now.
Voices multiply in our own time,
and contradictions surround us.
What was clear becomes clouded,
and many teachings contend for our trust.
What our fathers called sin is now called freedom,
what was sacred is treated as outdated,
and what was settled is contested.
When we are tempted to abandon
what has always been held,
pray that we remain anchored.
Pray that we may discern what is true
from what merely sounds appealing.
Teach us the vigilance proper to the laity:
not to set ourselves up as teachers,
not to judge the faith by our own measure,
but to guard our own hearts first,
to hold fast to what we have received,
and to seek counsel from faithful shepherds
when we are uncertain and confused.
Remind us that the Church has weathered worse
—that in your time there were antipopes and heretics,
and yet the faith was preserved,
and the gates of hell did not prevail.
Pray that we may be given calm in confusion,
patience in trial,
and trust that what God has established
will not be destroyed,
no matter how fierce the storm.
Pray that we may resist error
not with pride or anger,
but with humble fidelity
—holding to truth,
seeking wise counsel,
guarding what has been entrusted to us,
and trusting that Christ will preserve His Church
as He always has.
Saint Norbert,
who stood firm when falsehood spread
and did not waver,
pray for us
—that we may be vigilant without despair,
faithful without arrogance,
and steadfast in the truth
you defended and passed on.
