Prayers to Saint Wenceslaus of Bohemia
O holy martyr Wenceslaus,
faithful prince and patron of Bohemia,
you left the crown of earth for the wreath of heaven.
You stood as a champion of the Christian faith
when darkness threatened the light of truth,
and showed us that true nobility lies
in service to Christ and defense of His people.
Though raised to earthly power,
you humbled yourself before God day and night,
rising in secret to feed widows and orphans,
preparing bread and wine for the altar
with your own hands.
When treachery struck without warning,
you gave your life as witness
to the faith you would not abandon,
shedding your innocent blood for Christ.
Look with mercy upon us
who call upon your powerful intercession.
Intercede with us,
that we may be delivered from visible and invisible enemies
that would harm our souls or bodies,
that courage may be given in battle and in peace,
that strength be granted to choose good over evil,
and that faithfulness may endure unto death.
Help us remember that earthly kingdoms pass away,
but the Kingdom of God endures forever.
Faithful prince and glorious martyr,
pray for us before the throne of God,
that, following your example,
we may rejoice with you in Christ’s eternal kingdom.

entrusted to you,
not for glory, but for Christ.
You faced foes beyond the borders
and betrayal within your own house,
yet your innocence became its shield,
and your blood its witness
before God.
Look with mercy upon this land
and its people.
Intercede with us,
that we may be delivered from enemies seen and unseen,
that violence and deceit be cast down,
that corruption within be restrained,
and snares laid without be overcome.
Intercede with us,
that the faithful may be strengthened,
that our leaders may have wisdom,
that our households are kept in peace.
When truth is mocked
and the faith of our fathers despised,
pray that hearts return to Christ,
that faith is rekindled in these lands and elsewhere,
and that we remain steadfast in the Gospel you defended.
Faithful prince and glorious martyr,
pray for Czechia,
pray for all who dwell here,
that we may remain firm in the faith
and rejoice with you
in the eternal kingdom of God.
