Prayers to Saint Aldegundis of Maubeuge

O Saint Aldegundis,
beloved virgin,
you bore hardship without complaint,
and illness without despair.
When tested, you kept your peace.
In suffering, you did not turn away.
In weakness, you remained faithful.
Teach us to endure what God permits,
whether sorrow or silence,
whether illness or loss,
without losing heart.
Pray for us, that we may walk through
life's trials with your stillness and trust,
and rejoice with you
in the kingdom of Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Saint Aldegundis of Maubeuge, virgin and abbess
Prayer to Saint Aldegundis for Women Discerning Religious Life
Prayer to Saint Aldegundis for
Inner Stillness in Trials
Prayer to Saint Aldegundis in the Trial of Breast Cancer
O Saint Aldegundis,
holy virgin and abbess,
you were called to marriage,
yet you chose consecration,
setting aside the hopes of the world to belong wholly to Christ.
You did not seek ease or escape,
but gave yourself to prayer, labour,
and rule, serving God
in the midst of others
with a steadfast and undivided heart.
Pray for those who stand at
the threshold, who hear the call
yet tremble before it,
for women drawn toward the veil yet pressed by fear, duty, or expectation.
Obtain for them light to recognise
the call, strength to surrender
what must be left behind, and peace
to walk forward without regret,
that they may see clearly,
choose faithfully,
and give themselves without reserve
to the service of Christ.
Amen.
O Saint Aldegundis,
beloved virgin,
you kept your heart fixed on Christ
when the world pressed in around you.
And when the sickness took
hold of your body,
you bore it without fear,
trusting the One who had called you.
Teach us to endure
what we are given,
to remain steady in hardship,
and to hold fast in suffering
without noise, without despair.
Pray for us,
that in pain, in fear, in silence,
our hearts may rest in Christ,
and not be moved.
Amen.
O Saint Aldegundis,
beloved virgin,
you carried in your own body
the burden of this affliction.
You know the hidden weight,
the inward pain that does not show, and the long silence of waiting.
When fear wakes in the night
and the flesh trembles with weakness, be near to me.
When the days pass in stillness and every breath is a prayer for strength, stand beside me.
Obtain for me patience in trial,
courage in the face of suffering,
and trust that no part of this path
is wasted in the hands of God.
O Aldegundis, sister
in the same affliction,
virgin and abbess in glory,
pray for me.
Amen.
Sancta Aldegundis, ora pro nobis.
Prayer to Saint Aldegundis for One Suffering Breast Cancer
O Saint Aldegundis, beloved virgin,
who knew this sickness in your own body,
who felt its weight and its fear, and did not turn away.
We place before you this woman who now suffers.
You know the pain that returns without warning,
the weakness that humbles the strong,
the nights when fear speaks louder than hope.
You know the waiting, the examinations,
the silence between answers.
Stand near her in the hours of pain.
When the body trembles and strength is spent,
obtain for her patience without despair.
When fear rises at what may come, obtain for her
courage that does not depend on earthly outcome.
When the mind is crowded with questions,
obtain for her peace enough for the day.
Saint Aldegundis, you did not flee this trial.
You carried it faithfully before God.
Teach our beloved one how to endure,
not by hardness of heart, but by trust.
We also entrust to you
all who walk this path with her:
those who watch and cannot heal,
those who love and feel helpless,
those who fear losing her
and yet must remain strong.
Obtain for them steadiness of heart,
gentleness in exhaustion,
and the grace to suffer together without bitterness.
Obtain that this trial not divide them,
but bind them in patience, truth, and love.
O holy abbess, witness of suffering borne with faith,
intercede for her who suffers.
Amen.
